Item 23 of the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) is the acknowledgment receipt that confirms the prospective franchisee has received the document. Franchisors are legally required to provide the FDD at least 14 days before a franchise agreement is signed or money is exchanged. Signing Item 23 starts the countdown and is an important compliance requirement. Prospective franchisees should keep a copy of the signed receipt for their records.
